Oliver Hugh McDonald, son of Hugh and Mary Ann Loggins McDonald, was born on February 7, 1830, in Hall County, GA. He was a farmer by trade. On November 11, 1851, he married Nancy Eldridge (Feb. 9, 1829-Dec. 13, 1876) in Murray County, GA. They had three children, James Alexander (b. Sept. 5, 1852), William Harvey (b. Mar. 7, 1855), and Margaret Jane (b. Jan. 19, 1860). All three of the children were born in Spring Place, Murray County, Georgia. The family moved to Arkansas sometime between 1865-1870.
After Nancy's death, Oliver Hugh married Permelia Jane Ward (Jan. 26, 1850-April 25, 1923)on September 13, 1877, in Hatfield. They had two children, namely, Alice Catherine (b. Oct. 30, 1879) and George Wesley (b. Nov. 8, 1882). Both children were born in Polk County.
The family farm was located approximately a mile west of Hatfield on what is now known as the Tilley Road.
