Mrs. Alice Shoemaker Verbeck, aged 65, well known Plains resident, died early this morning at her home, 410 North Main street, Plains, following illness of complications. It is a sad coincidence that her sister Mrs. Georgianna S. Stark with whom she made her home, died just a week ago. Mrs. Verbeck was born at Shoemaker, Monroe Count, daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Shoemaker and great granddaughter of Captain Henry Shoemaker, an officer in the American Revolution. She lived for some time in New York City until two years ago, when she came to live with Mrs. Stark. Mrs. Verbeck was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Wyoming Valley Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution.
Surviving are a son, W. Frank Verbeck, Jr., New York City; a sister Mrs. George W. Snyder, of Delaware Water Gap; a brother, Charles J. Shoemaker, city and a nephew, Mark Shoemaker, of Fort Wayne, Ind.
