She is the seventh of eight children of John Ennis and Hannah Park.

Sometime about 1849-50 her brother, John Enniss, immigrated to Utah with his wife, Elizabeth Boullter Enniss and child Augusta Comfort Enniss. During 1852 they were members of the John Tidwell Wagon Company, the same Wagon Company with which Henry Garfield and Susannah Cherrington Garfield traveled to Utah.

We then boarded river steamers to Atchison, Kansas and by wagon a few miles to Mormon Grove, Kansas.
