BIO by Dessau7:

David S Dessau was the brother of Sophia Dessau (1833 - 1904) who married Henry "Harry" Reinbach, and Fredericka (or Fredrica) Dessau (1834 - 1907) who married Thomas Swain. The Dessau siblings were born in Hamburg, Germany and raised in a Ashkenazim Jewish family.

Despite the fact that each sibling immigrated to the United States in different years, all three eventually ended up living near each other in Waverly, Morgan County, Illinois. Presently, parentage of the Dessau children is still unknown to this writer. Bio will be updated with new verifiable data once there are documents proving who were their parents.

At the age of 18, David S Dessau departed from Hamburg, Germany in August of 1855 traveling aboard the Sir Robert Peel. He arrived on Sep 14th, 1855 at the Port of New York, New York, USA. He became a Naturalized Citizen on Oct 24th, 1860.

David S Dessau married Emaline "Emily R Goldsmith, daughter of John James Goldsmith (1811 NJ - 1894 IL) and Susan Reese (1819 KY - 1896 IL) on Oct. 9th, 1865 in Morgan County, IL. Emaline's middle initial was R which more than likely was Reese, in honor of her mother's maiden name.

Children of David S Dessau and Emily Goldsmith:

Georgiana Louise Dessau (1867 – 1944)
Erle Susan Dessau (1869 – )
Susan A Dessau (1874 – )

David was a "Druggist" and Emily kept house according to the 1880 Census. David and Emily lived with their three daughters.

David S Dessau died on Dec 8, 1881 at the age of 44.
