OBITUARY-MUSSETT
Mary Elizabeth Nowlan was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Nowlan August 2, 1868 at Leban, Mo., and departed from this life May 28, 1940, at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 21 days. She was united in marriage to H. J. Mussett in 1888 at Sedan, Kansas. They made their home for several years in the Indian Territory coming to Fredonia in the year 1900.
To this union were born six children, four boys and two girls. Her husband and three children preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons, James and Grover of Fredonia, Kansas, and William of Stockton, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. C. P. Timmons of Atlanta, Ga., a half brother, James Evans; five grandchildren.
She was converted and united with the Baptist church and remained a faithful member until her passing. During her last illness she was lovingly and tenderly cared for by her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Mussett.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, May 31, in the First Baptist church with the Rev. James S. Bunch of Kiowa, Kansas, and the Rev. Edw. A. Reinhardt, pastor of the Fredonia Christian church officiating. Burial was in the Butner cemetery, south of Fredonia.
