WORLD WAR
Betty and Jim McMahon Fomer Moraga Residents Elizabeth (Betty) McMahon, aged 92, passed away on July 1, 2012 and Dennis J. (Jim) McMahon, aged 94, on July 4, 2012 at their residence in Carmichael, California. They were married on May 31, 1941 in Fargo, ND. Jim served in the Army during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star. During their 71 years of marriage they resided in many places across the country as Jim pursued his career as a civil engineer and Betty her vocation as "Mom" and her love for bridge, which she played well into her 80's. They made many life-long friendships along the way, many of which have endured to this day. They were residents of Moraga prior to their move to the Sacramento area. They were loving parents and are survived by their children: Denny (Nancy) McMahon of El Dorado Hills, CA, Tom (Gwen) McMahon of Catawissa, PA, Libby (Steve) Freeman of Sparks, NV, Patty McMahon of Sparks, NV, Marty (Kim) McMahon of Columbia, MD, Colleen Nelson of Granite Bay, CA, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, Jim's sister Mary McMahon of Du Pont, WA and Betty's sister Doris Vaught of Lacey, WA. They were preceded in death by their son Joe in 2009. Family, faith and friends were what Jim and Betty cherished most in life and they had all in abundance. Theirs was a life well lived. A funeral mass and celebration of their lives will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in El Dorado Hills, CA at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Presentation Prayer Center, 1101 32nd Avenue S, Fargo, ND 58103 or the charity of your choice. "Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality."
