Katherine is the second wife of Dr. Burton Zenas Aplington, a doctor of homeopathic medicine. They were married on August 18, 1890 in Chicago. They had one son, William James Aplington. Katherine died in 1896 at the age of 34 and Burton died one year later at 41. Young William was taken in by Katherine's mother.
