WALNUT COVE, NC ~ Mrs. Lois Leaner Neal Lawson, 64, finished her battle with cancer unexpectedly on Monday, January 19, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center.

She was born in Stokes County to Ben Daley Neal and Grace Leaner Neal Neal.

She was a Christian lady who most recently attended Sycamore Baptist Church. She retired from the Stokes County School System with 25 years service. Her favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren but she also enjoyed yard work, especially mowing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl James Price and her second husband, Virgil Lee Lawson, Sr.

Surviving are three sons, Jerry Price, Ricky (Dawn) Price, and Lee (Jeanette) Lawson; seven grandchildren, Jason, Brandon, Jennifer, Haleigh, Alisha, Cody, and Katelyn; one sister, Geraldine Neal; two brothers, Ronnie (Wanda) Neal and Fred (Marilyn) Neal; and her pet dog, Lucy.

An 11:00 a.m. funeral service will be held Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Burroughs Funeral Home, with Rev. Roscoe Bowden officiating. Burial will follow in the Wayside Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 till 8:00 tonight, January 21, at the funeral home and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Relay For Life, 1115 Morgan Street, Walnut Cove, NC 27052 or to Cancer Services, 3175 Maplewood Avenue, Winston Salem, NC 27103.

The family wishes to deeply thank the Mary Sue Brim family, Dr. Judith Hopkins, Carole Holt, and the nurses/staff that were so good to Mrs. Lawson during her illness.
