WALNUT COVE, NC ~ Mr. Virgil Lee Lawson Sr., 69, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was a logger and loved the outdoors. Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by two sisters, Onie Wagner and Beatrice Shelton, and two brothers, Clyde Lawson and James Lawson. Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Lois Neal Lawson of the home; children Virgil Lee Lawson Jr. (Jeanette) of Madison, Jerry Price and Ricky Price of Walnut Cove, Richard, Wayne, Cathy and Carolyn all of Texas; seven sisters, Lorine Gann and Mattie Justice of Stokesdale, Rachel Sands of Sandy Ridge, Eviline Sands and Louise Sizemore of Madison, Annie Mae Young and Fannie Kay Hicks of Pine Hall; and five grandchildren, Brandon, Haleigh, Alisha, Jason and Jennifer. A 2 p.m. funeral service will be held Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sam Ashburn officiating. Burial will follow at Wayside Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home and other times at the home.
