John Scott Greene, 63, of Greene Acres in Richmond, Texas, lived his life the best way possible - exactly as he pleased. "Scotty," as he was called by all who loved him, passed away peacefully at home on January 30, 2013, after an extended illness. He was born in Ft. Worth, Texas, on December 31, 1949, to Miriam and Durwood Greene. Scotty was a loving, hardworking and hilarious man who loved playing golf, drinking Dr Pepper, and spending time with his family. Although Scotty considered retirement a few times, he enjoyed going to work and was well liked by his employees and those he worked with at Durwood Greene Construction Company.

Scotty was a 1968 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Houston. He briefly studied history at Stephen F. Austin State University, but left school to help grow the family business, Durwood Greene Construction Company. There he met his future wife, Lynn Humphrey. They were wed in 1980 and built a beautiful, happy family over their 33-year marriage. Scotty was a loving husband and wonderful and indulgent father to his two daughters, Sarah and Devon.

Before his illness, Scotty spent his free time playing golf and watching his favorite shows on the History Channel. He was a skilled guitarist and loved fine cars. Scotty touched the lives of all who knew him with his excellent sense of humor and easy smile.

Scotty is survived by his loving family - wife, Lynn; daughter Sarah and son-in-law, Ryan Gabbart, and daughter Devon and her long-time boyfriend, Max Dunlap.

Scotty is also survived by his brothers, Richard and Jeffrey Greene, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Betty and Guy Humphrey, brothers-in-law, Guy Humphrey Jr, Kevin Humphrey, and David Northrup, sisters-in-law Lisa Humphrey Northrup, Nancy Humphrey, Alysia Humphrey, Monica Greene, Dr. Vicky Greene, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Scotty also adored his little niece, Keira, whom he considered his "granddaughter". Also surviving are close family friends, Robert and Debbie Riegelsperger, Ephriam and Sonia Arredondo, Gail Layne, Rigo Terrones, Jerry Guzman, and Elena Casares. His beloved dogs, Pugsley and Dorothy Ann, love and miss him also.

Scotty was preceded in death by his mother and father, Miriam and Durwood Greene, and his brother, David B. Greene.

The family wishes to thank his nurses, Immaculata, Holly, Crystal, Araceli, Kasey, Shelley, Denise, Trisha, and Charmie, and aides Bola, Susan, Joseph, and Mai, who gave him the best of care and a year of quality of life at his home that he otherwise would not have received. We also thank his wonderful physicians, Dr. Ivan Mefford, Dr. David Chao, Dr. Amirali Popatia, and Dr. Chris Chen. We are eternally grateful for your kindness, compassion, and the excellent care you each gave Scotty.

A Memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Rosenberg, 1400 Radio Lane, Rosenberg, Texas on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Boys & Girls Country of Houston, Pughearts of Houston, or to the First Presbyterian Church of Rosenberg.
