After college,he joined the U.S.Army and was stationed in Chicago. Following his military service, he moved to Dodge City and worked for Graves Truck Line until retiring in 1980 due to his health.

He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church at Dodge City,KS, National Rifle Assoc and American Federatin of Labor, including Local No.710.

He married Marilyn Curry on Oct.1,1977 at Garden City,KS. Funeral services were held at Swaim Funeral Home with Rev.Randall Jahnke presiding. Burial at Maple Grove with military rites by Howard Gotschall Post No.1714, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Memorials to Department of Wildlife-Wildtrust Fund in care of Swaims Funeral Home.
