Dorothy Corine Elliott Ethridge, 98, widow of Walter Blease Ethridge Sr., died at home on Saturday, February 9, 2013.

Mrs. Ethridge was born in Williamsburg County, near Andrews, on August 1, 1914, a daughter of the late Matthew Allen Elliott and Flossie Bell Cannon Elliott.

She ran a catering business for a time and was the oldest member of Piney Forest Baptist Church. Mrs. Ethridge served her church as a Sunday School Teacher and Chairman of the Social Committee. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Ethridge was predeceased by four brothers, D. W., Harley, Ralph, and Carl Elliott; two sisters, Bertie Hiney and Nonie Elliott; and two great-grandsons.

She was survived by a son, W. B. (Nina) Ethridge Jr. of Andrews; four daughters, Corine Mixon and Bobbie (Dan) Newton, both of Andrews, Geraldine Filibert of Mt. Pleasant, and Dale (Howard) Wallace of Winston-Salem, NC; two sisters, Flossie Webb of Wilson, N.C. and Annie Laurie Cumbie of Augusta, Ga.; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday, February 11, 2013, at Piney Forest Baptist Church. The Rev. Craig Stephenson and the Rev. Allen Lynch officiated.

Burial, directed by Mayer Funeral Home, followed in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
