"Edwin F. Abernethy Jr., 77, of Marietta, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Providence, RI., he was the son of the late Edwin F. Sr. and Bertha Abernethy.
Edwin was the loving husband and will be sadly missed by Miriam, to whom he was married for 56 years. He was a member of Faith Outreach Center in Mount Joy. Edwin retired from Donegal Industries in 2000. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and most of all spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife Miriam are three children, Douglas D. Abernethy husband of Helen of Elizabethtown, Brian K. Abernethy husband of Belinda of Louisville, KY., and Kelly J. King wife of Jeffrey of Mechanicsburg. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, and three brothers, Richard Abernethy of Leesburg, FL., Paul Abernethy of Elizabethtown, and Robert Abernethy of Cocoa, FL.
A Funeral Service honoring Edwin's life will be held at the Sheetz Funeral Home 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy 17552 on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 11 A.M. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home before the service from 10 A.M.-11 A.M. Interment will follow at Clearfield United Methodist Church Cemetery, New Providence.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association 3544 North Progress Ave., Suite 101, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or the American Heart Association 610 Community Way Lancaster, PA 17603."
