Randy was a Foremost man through and through. He received all of his schooling in Foremost and in Grade 7, began dating his soul mate, Candy Lynes. When he wasn't in school, Randy kept busy working either at his father's bulk fuel agency or for Tom Frankish. while still attending school, Randy began driving his father's school bus, which he continued to do after his father's passing.
After graduating from high school, Randy worked hard on a lot of community endeavors. Randy was a member of the Foremost Ambulance and Fire Department for 20 years, was involved in bringing the Community Bus to Foremost, and was a member of Foremost Tractor Pullers Association for their entire existence. Just prior to marrying his childhood sweetheart, Randy began farming with his soon-to-be father-in-law, Ted Lynes.
Randy loved his family friends, and farming with all his heart. Farming was complete with his right hand man, Bob Bourret. Nothing was more important than spending time with family and friends. Camping trips were some of Randy's greatest memories. Randy cherished the friends he made while he was custom harvesting. Later in life, Randy took great pleasure in the trips he took on his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. No matter what Randy had going on in his life, he was always more than willing to be there to lend a hand or his support to his family, friends and neighbours; that was his nature.
It was admirable the way that Randy fought his battle to the end without once complaining. No matter when he was questioned, Randy's three favourite words continued to be "perfect, beautiful and wonderful."
He is survived by his loving wife Candy; daughters Kelsey (Scott Hazell) and Darcie and his favorite dog Molly; mother-in-law Irene Lynes; as well as Callum Sears, who Randy was looking forward to welcoming to the family. He also leaves behind his brothers Brent (Deb) and Rochy (Donna) sister Pat (Ken) Friesen; nephews Spencer, Bryce (Ashley), Cole, Tye, Justin (Amy) and Jeremy and nieces Daryl and Kara (Keith).
Randy was predeceased by his daughter Nicole, his parents Bob and Mary, father-in-law Ted and Candy's brother Kenny.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2008 at the Foremost Community Hall, with Marie Barr officiating. A private family Interment to follow in the Foremost Cemetery.
Those who wish, memorial donations may be made in Randy's memory to the Foremost Ambulance and Fire Department or to the Southern Alberta medicAir Scoeity both in care of the Village of Foremost, P.O. Box 159, Foremost, AB T0K 0X0.
