JERSEY CITY Joseph C. Castagna, "Moon", 78, a life long resident of Jersey City, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2009, at Bayside Manor, Keansburg, New Jersey. Joseph was a Jersey City Police Officer for 36 years, stationed outside of Dickinson High School. Joseph was the beloved husband of the late Jean (DiToro); devoted father of Joseph A. Jr. and wife Rosalind Castagna and Janet Paris; cherished grandfather of Andrew, Genie, Joelle, Lauren, Joseph III and Anthony; loving brother of Rachael King and the late Carmine Castagna; dear brotherin-law of John King, Joyce Castagna, Rose Cappadona, Pompy and her late husband Amody DiToro; dear uncle of Philip, Susan, Jeanine, Joseph, Elena, Joanne, Anthony, Barbara, Jean and Linda; loving nephew of Nettie Apruzzese. Funeral will be on Thursday, December 31, 2009, 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home with a funeral Mass to follow at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Jersey City, at 10:30 a.m. Internment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
