Ruth Barger Matthews, 78, of Matthews Lane, Mosheim, died Tuesday at Takoma Adventist Hospital.
Mrs. Matthews was a housewife and farm wife.
She was the widow of Howell Matthews.
She was a lifelong member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her son, Brent Matthews.
Survivors include her grandson: Cole Matthews of Newport; a special sister: Edith Shaver of Parrottsville; several nieces and nephews, including two special nephews: Bobby Barger and Donnie Shaver; two special great-nephews: Jordan Shaver and Brandon Shaver; and special friends: JoAnn Busler, JoAnn Kirk, Ellen Collier, and Charles and Eldise Smelcher.
She was a daughter of the late C.W. and Mayme Barger.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Kiser Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 7 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Katheleen Yates will officiate.
A graveside service will be held at 10 o'clock Friday morning in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
