She was a member of the Athens Ward of Huntsville Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Valeria was baptized Sept. 1, 1946 and later served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Southern States Mission as a young adult. Valeria also served for over 25 years as the Family History Director for the Huntsville Alabama Stake and for the Athens Ward Family History Center.
Valeria is survived by her husband, Samuel A. Mitchell Jr. of Athens; three daughters, Kari Maleah Mitchell Millward of Elkmont, Shelley Teress Mitchell Merrill of Athens and Michelle Xan Mitchell Kucejko of Athens; one son, Rodric Hampton Mitchell of Prattville; one brother, Stance Murlin Moore of Mt. Olive, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Thomas Sullivan Merrill, Shazlan Alexandria Mitchell, Samuel Walter Kucejko, Jared Shane Merrill, Chelsea Elizabeth Kucejko, Heidie Linette Mitchell, Katelyn Maleah Kucejko and Andrew Hampton Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.
