Lance V. Cornwell, 81, of Ell Street, died Wednesday evening at his home.

Mr. Cornwell was retired from Magnavox, which later became Philips Consumer Electronics Co. and is now Five Rivers Electronic Innovations, LLC.

He was a member of Towering Oaks Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and usher for a number of years.

Survivors include his wife: Jessie Mooneyhan Cornwell; his daughter and son-in-law: Phyllis and Larry Bone, and his granddaughter: Jessica Louise Bone, all of Dallas, Ga.; several nieces and nephews; and special friends: Robert Ward, Elbert Creamer, Harry Fortner, and Orville Lowery.

He was a son of the late Samuel and Eliza Keller Cornwell and was preceded in death by a brother: Fred Cornwell; three sisters: Iretus Melton, Pearl Cooter, and Maudie Taylor; and three half-sisters: Bertha Morelock, Olgie Waddell, and Katie Crum.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Kiser Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning at Kiser Funeral Chapel with interment in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. The Rev. Dr. James K. Pierce III and the Rev. Dennis Shumate will officiate.

Active pallbearers will be Bobby Cornwell, Keith Cornwell, Donaldean Crum, Patrick Crum, Carl Cornwell, Travis Melton, R.K. Morelock, and Grant Crum.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Bible Class of Towering Oaks Baptist Church, Ben Wallace, Taylor Brockwell, Haynes Easterly, and Doug DeVotie.
