He was born Wednesday, August 17, 1934 in Aurora, Indiana, Son of the late Joseph Donk Sr. and the late Hazel Ruble Donk.
Gilbert was honorably discharged from the Navy and retired from Schenley. He was a member of the American Legion, Aurora Post, and in his younger days he enjoyed hunting and fishing. His passion in life was his family especially his beloved wife Rose. They celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on February 4th.
Men of few words are the best men. It was written under his high school yearbook photo and captures him well. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are his loving wife, Rose Donk; Children, Kathy (Mike) Klaene of Florence, KY and Matt (Kristan) Donk of Fort Wayne, IN; Brothers, Jim (Dianna) Donk of Aurora, IN and Terry (Sherri) Donk of Kingwood, WV; Sisters, Avis "Tiny" Rivera of Aurora, IN and Billy Sue (Houston) Walker of Burlington, NC; and Grandchildren, Jake and Nick Klaene of Florence, KY, and Alex Juliano of Fort Wayne, IN.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dona Donk Robinson and Eleanor "Bootsie" Donk Kleine, and a brother Joseph "Petey" Donk, Jr.
