Obituary for Harvey W. Hetterly from the Catoctin Clarion Newspaper of December, 1912:

"Mr. Harvey Hetterly, a well known and highly respected young man, died at the home of his father-in-law, Mr. Wm. H. Stull, near Thurmont, Friday evening, December 13, 1912, aged 35 years and 8 months. Mr. Hetterly was a fence builder by trade, and was a faithful worker. On November 21st he was taken ill, but was not confined to his bed and two weeks before his death he was in town. His condition became gradually worse and last Friday evening he peacefully passed away. The deceased was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hetterly of near Thurmont,and married Lillie, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Stull, who with a son and daughter survive. He is also survived by his father and mother and two brothers, Messrs. Harry and Vernon Hetterly, both of Thurmont. Mr. Hetterly was a faithful member of the United Brethren Church and will be missed greatly by his associates in the church as well as many other persons whose friendship he enjoyed. He was a member of Good Samaritan Lodge No. 46, I. O. O. F., of Thurmont. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon in the U. B. Church, his pastor, Rev. P. E. Holdcraft officiating. Willhide & Creeger funeral directors."

"Harvey Hetterly, a fence maker of Thurmont, died at his home at that place Friday evening at 8 o'clock from typhoid fever, following a short illness. Mr. Hetterly was stricken only about a week ago, and sank rapidly. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hetterly, of Thurmont, and was held in high esteem in the neighborhood. He was a member of the United Brethren Church. His wife, who was a Miss Stull before her marriage to him, survives, and two small children."

"The funeral of the late Harvey M. Hetterly, of Thurmont, took place from his late home at that place on Monday afternoon. The sermon was preached by Rev. Paul E. Holdcraft in the United Brethren Church. He was assisted by Revs. M. L. Beard and W. L. Martin. The church was crowded by a large concourse of friends and relatives. The Odd Fellows turned out in a body and conducted services at the grave, Mr. Hetterly being a member of the order. The remains were laid to rest in the United Brethren Cemetery. Willhide and Creeger were the undertakers in charge."
