Mr. Golden was an active member of Greeneville Church of Christ, where he served on the building committee.
He was a member of Greeneville Lodge #3, F&AM.
Mr. Golden was owner of West Main Sprinklers, which installs sprinkler systems, and also operated a ditchwitch service.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years: Perle Golden; a daughter and son-in-law: Paige (Golden) and Dave Dockins of Russellville, Ky.; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Allen and Nona Golden and Steve Golden, all of Wilson, N.C.; two grandchildren: Al Golden and Kristi Golden, both of Wilson, N.C.; a sister and brother-in-law: Glenna and Rex Barnes, and a sister-in-law: Mary Ruth Golden, all of Greeneville; three nephews: three nieces; and his special mother-in-law: Myrtle Griffis of Harriman.
He was a son of the late Ralph and Edith Golden, and was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Golden, and two brothers, Johnny "Red" Golden and Charles "Goldie" Golden.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at Greeneville Church of Christ with interment in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Jon Partlow, minister, and Charles Roney, minister and personal friend, will officiate.
Active pallbearers will be David Weems, Freddy Anderson, Donald Jenkins, Fred Bowers, Melvin Jones, Bill Onkst, Ken Yearwood and Larry Estepp.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Maynard Austin, Dr. Nathan Horner, Orville Lowery, Dennis Hensley, Larry Robinson, Will Anderson, Bobby Moore, and brothers-in-law: Billy Griffis, Ronnie Griffis, Scott Griffis, Johnny Griffis, Lynn Griffis and "Bo" Griffis
