Donald R. Boyd, 72, Oxford, Iowa, died Saturday, August 6, 1988, at his home.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 10, 10:30 a.m. at Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home. Burial was in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Rev. Brian Jensen officiated. Marsha Gerot was organist. Casketbearers were Doug Boyd, Steve Boyd, Pat Boyd, Dallas Simmons II, and Donald Todd.
Donald Boyd was born April 4, 1916, Conesville, Iowa, to Hugh and Caroline (Leffler) Boyd. He worked at Iowa's Ready Mix and Hawkeye Ready Mix (formerly Johnson County Ready Mix). He was a WWII Navy veteran and a 45 year member of American Legion John L. Mumm Post 457, Lone Tree.
Survivors include two sons, Terry Boyd and Dallas "Butch" Boyd, both of Lone Tree; two daughters, Colleen (Mrs. Ronald) Cox, Oxford; Darlene (Mrs. Steven) Cerny, Columbus Junction; one step-son, Kenneth Weber, North Liberty; one step-daughter, Lucille "Peg" (Mrs. David) Murrey, Iowa Falls, Iowa; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Also two brothers, Willie Boyd, Fredonia and Jesse Boyd, Placerville, California; two sisters, Mrs. Callie Hesseltine, Columbus Junction and Mrs. Ethel Campbell, Muscatine.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Leona; two brothers, Joe and Frank.
A general memorial has been established.
