Elizabeth "Betty" Carey, 89, died Monday, Feb 11, 2013, in Dubuque, IA. Funeral liturgy will be at 1:30pm Monday Feb 18 at Marion Hall Chapel, Mount Carmel. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 11am Monday in the chapel where there will be a prayer service at 11am.
She was born on May 15, 1923 in San Francisco. A lifetime educator, Betty was an elementary teacher and administrator in Illinois, California, Montana, Iowa, Nebraska and Colorado. Betty touched the lives of many children, families and friends who loved her for her kind disposition, sense of humor, generosity and her loyalty. Betty was a true dog lover who always had a favorite canine as a faithful companion, dedicating many volunteer hours to this community service. Surviving are a brother-in-law, Don Loudon; a niece, Cheryl Loudon; and the Sisters of Charity BVM congregation.
