Jean Agrimson, 80, of Sheldon, Iowa, formerly of Rock Valley, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Northwest Iowa Health Center, Sheldon.
The funeral service was held Thursday at Faith Reformed Church in Rock Valley at 1:30 with Rev. Mike Molenaar officiating. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley.
Bera Jean was born July 23, 1923, near Madison, SD, daughter of Alfred and Marion (Oppegaard) Halseth. She graduated from Eastern Normal School and General Beadle College at Madison and began teaching at Chester, SD. Jean worked as a secretary for Cal Ship Yards in California before teaching at Pierre, SD.
Jean married Donald Agrimson on December 29, 1945, near Lake Madison, SD. After Donald finished his Civil Engineering Degree at South Dakota State in Brookings, they lived in Pickstown, SD '48-'56; Hawaii '56-'66; Okinawa, Japan '66-'72; and again Hawaii from '72-'86 where Jean managed Morrow's Nuthouse, a candy and nut shop for several years.
Jean and Don retired to Rock Valley, IA in July of 1986. This past May, Jean and Donald moved to Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon, Iowa.
Jean enjoyed playing table games with her grandchildren, ministering to others with cards, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, singing in the choir, and participating in women's church groups.
Jean is survived by her husband, Donald; five daughters: Linda (Dave) Kramer of Johnston, IA, Pam (Ken) Thorson of Rock Valley, Michelle (Terry) Meyer of Yucaipa, CA, Lani (Dave) Crawford of San Diego, CA and Donna (Pete) Palmisana of Hobe Sound, FL; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Roger (Heljo) Halseth of North Highlands, CA; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-inlaw, Cora Mae and Alvin Heetland.
