Irene A. Wech, age 90, of Kewaunee, died peacefully at the Kewaunee Care Center on Monday, Oct. 30, 2006. She was born June 14, 1916, in Valmy to the late John and Emma (Wolfgram) Schroeder. At a young age, her parents moved to Kewaunee where she lived the rest of her wonderful life. Irene enjoyed her family, gardening, playing cards, and fishing in her younger years. She was very talented and accomplished at knitting and crocheting. Many GI`s were kept warm by sweaters she knitted during World War II. Children, grandchildren and friends enjoy and cherish many items that she made. She married John G. Wech on Nov. 27, 1934, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 1988. Irene was a lifelong member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaunee. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Bob and Lois Wech, Green Bay, and Dale and Pat Wech, Manitowoc; her grandchildren: Vicki House, Manitowoc; Greg Wech, Chippewa Falls; Nancy (Doug) Murphy, Green Bay; Dave (Carla) Wech, Green Bay; Peggy (Dave) Gauger, Two Rivers; Scott Throndson, Manitowoc; Todd (Dayna) Wech, Manitowoc; Michele (Kevin) Kahnk, Green Bay; Mark (Darcy) Wech, Manitowoc; Mike (Bonnie) Wech, Manitowoc; 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mabel (Emil) Wech, Kewaunee, and Ruth (Fred) Aude, Oak Creek; her sister-in-law: Ruth (Ray) Schroeder, Green Bay, and nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her brother: Ray (Sec) Schroeder; her sister: Lillian (Floyd) Stack; brothers-in-law: Floyd Stack; Fred Aude; Emil Wech; and great-grandson: Joshua Wech. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday (TODAY), at the Buchanan Funeral Home, 1425 Ellis St., Kewaunee, and again after 10 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 710 Dorelle St., Kewaunee, until the time of service. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, at the church with the Rev. Randy Schoemann officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery
