AHWAJEE, Ernest, 19, a sophomore, basketball squad member, of Akron, Ohio, one of the nine students who died in the fire at Kenyon College on the 27th of February, 1949. Of the 23 students on the third floor of Middle Kenyon, seven died and five were seriously injured. Ernest was one of the six that never got out of the building.

A relative, visiter of Find-a-Grave, added the following "Ernest is my uncle. They only found his class ring in the fire's ashes. He was born in Akron, Ohio and is laid to rest in Holy Cross cemetery in Akron, Summit County, Ohio with his mother, father, brother, and uncle."

from yearbook - In 1947, Ernest Ahwajee was admitted to the National Honor Society, along with twenty-six other classmates. Ernest was the Honors class president.
