Howard R. "Chick" Herzog, 86, 2 Quayle Run, died at 10:23 p.m. Monday (August 3, 1992) at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Herzog was an engineer on the Erie Railroad for 47 years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of St. Peter's First United Church of Christ, Eastern Star, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Fireman, Amity Lodge 483, Huntington Scottish Rite Club, Hapzim Shrine Club of Huntington County Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Fort Wayne, and Mizpah Temple of Fort Wayne.
Mr. Herzog was born July 20, 1906, in Huntington, to Otto and T. Ray Fulton. His marriage was June 11, 1930, in Indianapolis, to Mary Evelyn Hildebrand. She survives.
Also surviving and two daughters, Mrs. Dwight (Barbara) Kline, Huntington, and Mrs. Jerry (Carolyn) Waikel, Laramie, Wyoming; one stepson, William J. Carey, North Manchester; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Preceding him in death were two sisters, Mary Herzog and Eloise Sheldon, one brother, Kenneth Herzog and two grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with a Masonic Lodge Service at 6:30 p.m. at Hart Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Raymond Scribner and Rev. David Wagner officiating.
Burial will be in Gardens of Memory. Preferred memorials are to the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital.
