Charles Mills

Mr. Charles "Noel" Mills, 70, of LaPorte, died Thursday, June 18, 1992, at 11:20 a.m. at LaPorte Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 3, 1921, in Kouts, to John W. and Florence I. (Demarah) Mills, and had lived here 36 years, coming from Hanna. Mr. Mills was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; Michigan City Moose Club Lodge 980, 40 and Over Dance Club; Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, where he was a Sergeant in the 410th Bomb Squadron and was a member of the 94th Bomb Group H, and had retired from LaPorte Hospital as director of purchasing after 20 years of service. He had previously been director of personnel at LaPorte Hospital.
On Nov. 15, 1945, in Goodland, Ind., he married Mary Jane Heck, who died Sept. 14, 1988.
Surviving are two daughters, Marsha Mills Ort, of North Brookfield, Mass., and Denise Lindsay, of Plainfield, Ind.; three sisters, Juanita Sacks and Rose Mary Shei, both of Hanna, and Clara Belle Marks, of Arnold, Calif.; two brothers, Donald and Norman, both of Hanna, and several nieces and nephews. His parents and one daughter, Lora Lee Mills, preceded him in death.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph E. Till officiating. Friends may call at the Essling Funeral Home from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday, where a wake service will be held at 7 p.m., and from 7 to 9:30 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
