He was born November 18, 1905 in Coltman, Idaho, the 10th of 14 born to William Thomas and Annie Maria Rasmussen Clarke.
Leo was a hard worker, a devoted family man, and gave much service to his fellow men. He worked in forests, in mines, in orchards, and gardens, in schools, in business, driving trucks, painting houses, and was a handyman to everyone. He was always supportive as his family participated in the fine arts, and he loved to recite poetry and take his turn as an actor. He was friendly and cheerful and enjoyed being with his friends and family, attending family gatherings.
He was married February 14, 1935 to Rayma LaVerne Healy in the Salt Lake Temple, and expressed his love for her to the end of his life. She passed on before him, as did his son David Healy Clarke.
He served a mission to Australia in his youth and held many positions in the LDS Church - teacher, ward clerk, counselor in the Bishopric, Stake Mission Leader, High Priests Group Leader, Elder's Quorum President, Seventies Leader, and he loved to be a Home Teacher. He and his wife served as workers in the Los Angeles Temple, and served a mission to Deseret Industries in Provo. He bought and passed out church books as he traveled and shared his religious convictions with everyone he met.
He is survived by daughters Carene Jordan of Orem, UT, Cheryl Hart of Salt Lake City, UT, Shanon Roberts of Springville, UT, 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Lillian Watson of Bountiful, UT. He will be missed, but has longed to return to his wife and son and his brothers and sisters, father and mother. He is happy now.
Leo asked only for a dozen red roses, which the family has provided. In lieu of flowers he asked that donations go to Ricks College in his name.
