Stevie Crew, born in Elgin, IL, on May 22, 1942, passed peacefully to be with our Lord Jesus Christ, on February 13, 2013, in Mansfield, TX. Stevie was surrounded by family, Kim Pratt, Pam Dietrich, and Elsie Tyner, who were there to comfort and keep him company. They played some of his favorite Roy Rogers and Earnest Tubbs music for him. Stevie moved from Elgin, IL, to Cambria, IL, where he lived and was raised by his parents, Donald and Inalie Crew (Inalie later married his step-father, Don Simmons). In approximately 1993, Stevie became a long-time resident of The Rendleman House, in Marion, IL. Stevie was very happy living in The Rendleman House. He was gainfully employed, saved his money, and went on many trips with other residents. Stevie was loved by all at The Rendleman House. In August of 2010, Stevie moved to a nursing home in Mansfield, TX, so he could be closer to his family. Stevie is predeceased by: his parents, Donald "Steve" Crew and Inalie (Tyner) Crew; his step-father, Don Simmons; his uncle, Hervy Pat Tyner; and his cousin, Gary Tyner. Family left to cherish his memories are: aunt Imogene (Tyner) Ray, Rockford, IL; first cousin, Carl W. (Loretta) Tyner, Loves Park, IL; cousin, Kim (Shawn) Pratt and their son, Preston, of Burleson, TX; cousin, Pam (Norm) Dietrich and their sons, Aidan and Max, of Grand Prairie, TX; and cousin by marriage, Elsie (Knight) Tyner, Burleson, TX. The family wishes to give thanks to the owners and staff (past and present) at The Rendleman House for such wonderful love and care they gave to Stevie while he was living there. Stevie was such a blessing to anyone he met and no one was a stranger to him! Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with the Rev. Ed Martin officiating. Burial will be in Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
