Wayne C. Allwein of 911 Maple St., died Monday at home of a heart attack. He was 74. Allwein retired from the Lebanon police force in 1955 after 20 years of service. He was a Boy Scout Ranger for eight years and a part-time jail guard until 1971. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, its Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, the North Side Civic League, the Liberty Fire Co., the Fraternal Order of Police, and the VFW, Frederick W. Fuhrman Post 23. He was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts and was a Vigil Member of the Order of the Arrow. Allwein was a veteran of World War I, having served in France and Germany. He is survived by his widow, Eva Miller Allwein; six children: Wayne Jr., Theresa, wife of Anthony Dooley, and Mary, wife of Edward Kohler, all of Lebanon; Nancy, wife of Bernard Bretherick, Palmyra; Barbara, wife of Donald Speck, Lebanon, and David J., Lebanon; 19 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Carroll, Thomas, Mark, Bernard and Frederick, and sisters Catherine, wife of Frank Cincel; Josephine, wife of Francis Bunch, and Jeannette, wife of Donald Keefer, all of Lebanon. Allwein was born in Lebanon, son of the late Francis and Amanda Beamesderfer Allwein.
