He suffered from gastric ulcers at the age of 75 years. He was 7 months and 3 days old at time of death. The funeral was held on March 9, 1933 in the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Farming Township, Minnesota officiated by Rev. Walter E. Rohe with burial following the service
