James Young lived with his family in western Virginia. This family [which members?] was massacred while living on the Jackson River. The only survivors were 2 boys, John and William [any dates? Who were their parents?]. They were raised by the Native Americans on or near the Cumberland River. They were released by the treaty of Col Bouquet. However, They were happy where they were and did not want to leave this home with the Native Americans. After they were traded, one by one they returned to the Cumberland River area.We do not know much about a wife. I was told long ago that James was married to an Indian lady named Mary. When he died in 1845, he left a widow and nine children.
