James O. Taylor, 82, of Osseo, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 8, 1934 in Hillsdale to Harman & Verga (Romine) Taylor. Jim was first married to Nancy Bly Taylor and she survives. He later married Jan Ludlow on May 11, 1996 and she survives in Osseo.

Jim was a former employee of Allied Products and later was the owner and operator of Taylor-Mills in Hillsdale. Jim was a graduate of Hillsdale High School, class of 1952. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Jim was a volunteer fireman for the city of Hillsdale for many years. He was a member of the Hillsdale Elks Lodge and the American Legion. Jim was an avid genealogist, spending countless hours researching his family history.

Surviving besides his wife Jan are three children, Linda (Gary) Matych of Novi, Diane (Al) Philipp of Osseo and James (Marta) Taylor of Golden, CO; step children, Kurt (Judy) Ludlow of Rockford and Lori Caldwell of Hillsdale; grandchildren, Katelyn, Eric and Lindsey Matych, Marissa & Josef Philipp, Andrew, Erin, Maia and William Taylor, Joseph Ludlow, Lauren (Wesley) Barger, Erin Caldwell and Leah (Jerome) VanOrman; great-grandchildren, Bennett & Matthew VanOrman; and a sister, Beverly Towne.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Warren.

There will be a visitation for family and friends Thursday evening from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale. Private family interment with military honors will take place at the Lakeview Cemetery in Hillsdale.
