He was born on Aug. 19, 1942, in Peoria, Ill., the son of the late Clifford Clift and Lillian Autzen. He married Carolyn June Smith on Aug. 25, 1963, in Pekin, Ill. She passed away on May 3, 2002. He then married Adrianne Shultz on Aug. 31, 2002, in Pontiac, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Ron (Denise) Clift of Lacon, Ill., Daniel (Molly Strong) Clift of Sparland, Ill., Jolene (Brian) Smith of Sparland, Ill., Nicholas (Jennifer) Wolsfeld of Henry, Ill., Michael Wolsfeld of Holland, Mich., Sarah Wolsfeld of Oglesby, Ill., and Becky Stanley of Lacon, Ill.; and 18 grandchildren.
Ronald farmed the family homestead in Sparland until 1983. He started a career in construction and worked on the Twin Towers in Peoria. He later worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years and for Gray Interplanetary for over five years.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Mason Lodge 119 in Henry, Ill. He was also a member of LST 325 and the United Auto Workers 974.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon, Ill. Bob Murphy will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Monday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Lacon Cemetery at a later date.
