DEATH AND FUNERAL OF MRS. METCALF.
Mrs Julia Tracy, wife of Hon. Theron Metcalf, one of the Associate Justices of the Supreme Judicial Court, died in this city on Tuesday evening the 3d inst., aged 68. She is one of the daughters of Hon. Uriah Tracy of Litchfield, Ct., a distinguished lawyer and statesman. Her sisters married Judge Gould of Litchfield, and Judge Howe of Northampton, forming rather an unusual collection of distinguished legal names in one family. Mrs. Metcalf was a lady of great piety of character, very agreeable and intelligent in her manners and conversation, and held in high estimation. The funeral services took place on Thursday in the Roman Catholic Cathedral, Franklin Street, and were conducted after the usual form and ceremony of the Catholic Church, by Bishop Fitzpatrick. Among those present were Chief Justice Shaw and the Associate Justices of the Supreme Court, together with a large number of gentleman of the legal profession, and many relatives, friends and acquaintances of the family. The remains were conveyed to Forest Hill Cemetery, followed by a large number of mourning and sympathizing friends.
