Obituary, The Morning Sun, July 1983:

Archie Frank Davis, 83, of 121 East Fourth, died at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 1983, at Mt. Carmel Medical Center, where he had been a patient for the past eight weeks.

He was born November 11, 1898, in Liberal, to George and Della Ellis Davis. He attended schools in Liberal.

For many years he was a cattle rancher and cattle buyer in the Liberal and Mindenmines area. He came to Pittsburg 30 years ago from the Minden area and worked for the Sales Tax Division of the State of Kansas, retiring 15 years ago. Following retirement, he worked for the Joe Smith Tobacco Company for several years.

Mr. Davis was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and the AARP.

Survivors include one son, Robert L. Davis of Springfield, Missouri; one daughter, LaVon Patrick of Franklin; one sister, Blanche Gill of Medicalodge North; one grandson and two grand-daughters. He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Brenner Chapel with the Reverend Wayne Pontious officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Brenner Chapel.
