Shirley Anne Birrell Yaranga passed away on February 13, 2013, surrounded by her family after a long illness.

She was born on April 2, 1962, along with her twin brother, to Phillip Lamar Birrell and Ila Ione Schildhauer. She married Emiliano Yaranga on June 21, 1986. The marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River temple on September 19, 1987. They had two sons, Anthony Sean and Clayton Emiliano. Shirley was very patriotic and was proud to be an American. She was very involved with scouting and earned her Silver Oxen award. She was an organ donor.

She is survived by her husband and son Clayton, her mother, her brother Richard (Jana) Birrell, and sisters Sharon (John) Wiggins and Ruth (Kurt) Patterson. Preceded in death by her son Anthony, her father, and sister Donna Birrell Hooper.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the South Salt Lake Stake Center, 2280 South 300 East at 1:00 p.m. Friends may visit family prior to the service from 11:00-12:45.
