Sarah Jane Greiner Murphy born Mary 17, 1845 and died February 21, 1925 at 10:38 a.m. Sarah was born at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Moved with her parents to Putnam County, Illinois at the age of 14 years (1859). On May 16, 1865 she was united in marriage to Jeremiah Murphy. In 1868 she moved with her husband to Girard, Kansas. To this union were born nine children. Five preceeded her in death. Four remain to mourn her death. Mrs. Anna Tusing of Redfield, IA: Sherman and Addison of Washington, IA, Mrs. Clara Musgrove of Ottumwa, IA: 30 grandchildren and 20 great grand children survive. Her husband died in Girard, Kansas in the year 1888. Mrs. Murphy united with the Presbyterian Church at the age of 16 years and was a faithful member until afflictions overtook her. She had been a patient sufferer for the last 16 years but for all the loving hands and care could do God called her home on Feb. 21, 1925.
