He was the son of the late Grover and June (Hanson) GaNung, and was the husband of the late Norma (Durette) GaNung who died in June. He grew up in South Boston, and entered the U.S. Navy in 1950 serving until 1954 as a Boatswain's Mate Third Class.

He met Norma and they married in 1957 where they made their home in Walpole, Tyngsboro, and finally Littleon since 1965.

He worked as a salesman for Singer Sewing Machines, and several jewelry companies before he was a machine operator at Rexnord Corp in Hudson. He retired from there 19 years ago. He enjoyed playing poker.

He is survived by a son, Russell and his wife, Dianne GaNung; a daughter, Kathleen and her husband Nicolas St. Jeanos; four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
