She was raised in Missouri until her father moved to New Mexico Territory in 1907 where he founded the Cameron, New Mexico Post Office on the Quay/Curry county line.

Claudia Wier's (#49031179) grandmother (Alice Cameron) was one of the first public school teachers in New Mexico where she taught in a one-room school house. She graduated high school Magna cum laude at age 16 and got her Bachelor's degree at Montezuma Baptist College in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
