Clyde Eugene Newton was born October 12,1917 in DeSoto, Jackson County, Illinois. Mr.Newton resided most of his life in Columbia, Illinois.
He served in the US Army during WWII and for many years was a bus driver for Gulf Transport. He was employed at Puckett Motors in Columbia and also operated the Fina Service Station on Main Street.

Mr.Newton died October 17,1988 at Monroe County Nursing Home, Waterloo, Illinois. Services were held at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia. Interment was at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Illinois.

Mr.Newton was preceded in death by his parents, Milo and Allie,nee Childres, Newton; a sister Milly Newton in 1912; his brother William Glenn Newton in June of 1988. Surviving is his wife, Mabel June, nee Sellinger, Newton; his son Kevin Newton; his daughter, Mrs. Donald (Terry Ann) Schockley; grandchildren Donna Louise and Donnie Schockley; neices and nephews.
