"He enlisted in the U.S. Navy to fulfill his dream of becoming a Navy Frogman. On December 1st, 1967 Rob graduated BUD/S Class 42 in Coronado and went on to serve with UDT 11. He served two tours in Vietnam where he went on numerous operations including swimmer delivery vehicle (SDV) operations and was going on to become an SDV instructor when he was injured in combat. He received the Purple Heart medal and the Bronze Star medal with Combat Distinguishing Device on August 27th 1970."
