Albert Quinby, Lifelong Nichols Resident, Dies
Nichols – Albert Quinby, 78, lifelong resident of the Nichols community, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday, following a lingering illness. The body is at the Snider Funeral Home, West Liberty and after 11 a.m. Wednesday will be at the Nichols Methodist church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist church with the Rev. Edward Norman in charge. Burial will be in the Nichols cemetery.
Mr. Quinby was born Dec. 12, 1874, in Pike township, the son of William and Ruth Mansfield Quinby. He was married to Stella Buck in 1898 and her death occurred two years later. His second marriage was to Amelia Hintz in 1908. He was leader of the Nichols band for 25 years and until later he was active in community affairs. He was a member of the Methodist church at Nichols.
Survivors include his wife; one son, William, of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Mrs. Nina Worrel of Springdale; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents and one daughter.
