Arris C.[sic] Celum Jr., a former resident of Clint died Saturday[, Mar. 18, 1950,] in his home in Escondido, Calif. He was 50[sic]. He was a native of Clint. He moved to California 10 years ago.

He is survived by his widow Mrs. Pearl Celum; a brother, George Celum of Ysleta; and four sisters, Mrs. W. C. Passmore of Ysleta, Mrs. H. B. Matthews of San Angelo, Mrs. W. N. McDermott of San Francisco, and Mrs. Lorena Westerfield of Bakersfield, Calif.

The body will be sent here tomorrow[, Mar. 21]. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday[, Mar. 22,] in the Harding and Orr Chapel with Rev. M. C. Abercrombie of Clint officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery.—El Paso Herald–Post, Mar. 20, 1950; page 24

His World War I draft registration card gives his full name as Arris Tedious Celum and his date of birth as May 15, 1899. An entry in the California death index gives his name as Arris Ted Celum with a date of death as Mar. 18, 1950, (matching the date in his obituary) but records his date of birth as May 15, 1901 (which also gives the age at death in the obituary). If Arris had been born in 1901, he would not have needed to register for the World War I draft. That, coupled with a 1923 El Paso County marriage record which gives his age as 25, suggest the 1899 year is the more correct one.
