Gene and Margaret LaVine were at Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor near the Executive Airport in Sacramento, California when they died during a tragic accident. They were there along with their daughter Sue Martin, son in law and three grandchildren - all perished:

In 2002 a memorial was erected at that location with the names of the 22 victims of the accident.
