Claire S. St. Arnaud Abernathy, 80, of Ashlar Village, Wallingford, formerly of Lexington, Ma., died, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the Masonicare Health Center. She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Abernathy.

She was born in Fitchburg, Ma., November 21, 1930, a daughter of the late Armand St. Arnaud Sr. and Flora Croteau St. Arnaud, and had been a long time resident of Lexington, MA., before moving to Wallingford. She was a graduate of Mount St. Mary College and earned her Masters Degree from Simmons University in Boston. Clair was employed as a Librarian at Harvard University until her retirement and enjoyed traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her two daughters, Evelyn and Janine, MA.; her son William, her 7 grandchildren; her sister Barbara; her brother Armand St. Arnaud Jr., MA; and several nieces and nephews.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, Saturday, April 9. A funeral service will be held in The Wallingford Funeral Home. Interment in Westview Cemetery in Lexington, MA. will be private.
