Funeral services for Sherry Bernice Fenley Moss, 17, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4 at the Ackerman United Methodist Church with Rev. Don McCain, Rev. Wayne Hill and Rev. Roy Moore officiating. Interment was held in the Enon Cemetery under the direction of Nowell Funeral Services.

Miss Moss, a senior at Ackerman High School, died Aug. 2 in an auto accident She was a member of the Ackerman High School band since eighth grade, playing the flute and piccolo. She was a member of the basketball team, track team and flag corps in the eighth grade. She was a cheerleader in the ninth grade. She was presently the Drum Major of the Ackerman High School Band and a member of the Sextet, Chorus and Mixed Ensembles. Sherry was nominated "Who's Who Among High School Students", Band Woman of the Year each year since eighth grade, an award winner at the Miss. State Band Camp in 1991 and a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Sherry, a member of Ackerman United Methodist Church Choir, is survived by her parents, Spurgeon and Pam Moss of Ackerman; her paternal grandmother, Sara Adams Moss of Ackerman; her maternal grandparents, Will and Joanne Dove of Caledonia; and two brothers, Spurgeon A. Moss Jr. and Ronald James Moss, both of Ackerman.
