My Great Grandmother "Blanch" was the daughter of Absolom Stonewall Jackson "Jack" Abraham Cross and Sarah Catherine Holland Cross. Her siblings were Beber Cross, Chester Cross, Walter William Cross, Sam Samuel Seldon Cross, John Anderson Cross, Jessy L Cross, Maynard Thomas Cross, Fannie Cross, and Russell J Cross. She was married to Charles Bruce Long April 20, 1917 and had 4 daughters; my grandmother Ruth Opal Long (Smith), Clara Eunice Long (Allen), Margarie Hellen Long (McCatherin-Scott) and Bernice Bell Long (died at 19 months). She lived most of her life in Rodessa, Louisiana and died in the morning at the hospital in Vivian after she was given the wrong blood type for a kidney ailment. She was a kind and beloved friend, mother, wife and grandmother.

The Cross (Crosse/Del Crosse) family immigrated to Maryland from England in 1663. They descend from Sir Robert Crosse (1552-1611), of a Charlynch and Spaxton family, who was knighted by his sovereign for his gallant exploits at sea. From the Hylle or Hull Cartulary there were members of the Crosse family in Spaxton from the days of the Edwards. They held lands in Spaxton and Quantock-Durborough from the Fitchet family. Their family is traced back to Sir Gilbert De Lancaster Kendal (Lancaster Castle, England) and continues into a royal line of family in the year 950 in Aquitaine, France.
