WHEELING-Muriel M. Bader, 85, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 30, 2007 at Albany Health Care after an extended illness.
She was born April 3, 1922 in Stratford, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Stemler) Heinzen.
Muriel was a graduate of Purdy High School in Marsfield, Wisconsin. After high school, during World War II, she went to work for Rodis Lumber and Veneer. She worked at her mother's restaurant in Wisconsin then moved to Wheeling. Muriel owned and operated the Tradewind Restaurant in Muncie during the early 1970's. She had also worked at Sinclaire Glass in Hartford City. Muriel was an avid bowler and loved being with family and friends. Muriel was a long time member of the Eastern Star, Purity Chapter #126 (formerly the Matthews Chapter) and the Sympathy Club 105, Muncie.
Mrs. Bader is survived by two sons, Richard (Dick) Bader (wife: Elaine), Wheeling, and Tony Bader (wife: Vicki), Gaston; two daughters, Muriel (Merkie) Smithson (husband: John), Farmland, and Juanita Bunch (husband: Mike); a step-daughter, Betty Fancil; forty grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Grotsky.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James William Bader; a granddaughter, Rachel Brock; brothers, Paul Zetter, John Heinzen and Kenny Heinzen; a sister, Shirley Sinn; and a son-in-law, (Betty's husband), Tom Fancil.
Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Pastors Bill VanHorn and mike Greer officiating. Burial will follow in the Hawk Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the mortuary. There will be an Eastern Star Memorial Service at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
